Comments to "Virtual Villagers"

1. The main flaw I see up front is that, even when set on Fast, the game drags along way too slow. I've played for 40 minutes and the little folks barely know how to do anything. They're supposed to learn by doing... But the problem is they "DO" so slowly that learning takes FOREVER!The second flaw is, "press left button to move around the map". This goes contrary to practically every game out there where there's map navigation involved. You press to drag the map... Then you press again to drag the little villagers, there just seems to be a lack of logic and it simply feels weird. The graphics are cute, a bit blocky but livable. Music is nice and doesn't get in the way of the game play. Villager comments like "HEY!" when you pick them up or the children laughs are a nice touch that doesn't turn repetitive as one would think.Dragging the male character onto a female to have them "do the whoopie" and have babies! I Love that detail! Now if only the birthed babies would take less than 60 minutes to actually grow up, we'd be OK!

2. Cool, i love this game! I love every game that run in real time, such as fish tycoon. When i check back my games. Many surprise awaits.. I just like this game very much. I will happy if reflexive have much more games like this one... The graphics are cool. But poor, i can't set the resolution. It make me hard to look at the game interface. So small.. The sound is good. Makes me enjoying this games so much. I am thinking for buying this games.

3. i purchaced this from another website as it was on offer, i played the demmo first and was intregued.after the hour was up i wanted more so i bought it. i kind of wish i had'nt. the game keeps running in the back ground, even when you dont have the game running.you really only have to start the game every hour or so for about 2 nibutes, which is long enough to play through the demo version.some of the puzzles are also a little tricky, i had to resort to cheating to find the answers to the last 5. but once you do all the puzzles there isnt really much to do, it took me a week to compleate it.i guess what i am saying is that it is verry short lived, the challenges can be done with out really having the game running, as long as you check in now and then.this game would be good for a kid, more than adults, it's kind of a simple sim's game.the graphics are really simple but very cute, and tha sound is rubbish, it is just a repeating song with special noises ontop, like hammering for building and kissing for breeding.i enjoyed it for a few hours but i have uninstalled it as there is no longevity to it so i have done all that can be done.just try the demo before you buy

4. This game is real fun, There are some things that are somewhat OK like the graphics could probably be a little better and maybe more sound but overall this is a good game. At first I didn't like the fact that the game keeps going even after you shut it down but after going to the official site for this game I found that you can pause the game mode so it doesn't continue when you shut it off. Anyways I suggest you try this game out it's very fun.

5. But it's too slow for me. I mean I'd like events going faster. All the other things are lovely! Thanks to BIG FISH GAMES!

6. i love the game i like the real time aspect of it you get to turn an island into a home you get to make them raise families learn and build houses and as to some comments made by others yes you can stop the time by going into options and clicking pause under the timer options its a good thing if your not going to be around for awhile to check in but thanks again guys yet another great game keep them coming :D

7. My cousin showed me this game and told me that it was addictive and I didn't believe her until i bought it for her and played it!!!! OMG! This game is awesome! Graphics aren't the best, and gameplay is a little on the rough side, but the sound rocks! If you like roleplaying or sim games, or anything else that plays in real time, buy this, you'll love it.

8. I bought full game from other site. That game is really nice.A little bad graphic at details. Not the same game every time you play.Recommended for everyone.Out of 16 tasks 6 tasks are hard to complete.

9. a very relaxing game where you don't need to use too much of your brain waves. the graphics and music are nice and enjoyable. quite a fun and interesting game overall.

DatePosted by ricochej on August 05, 2006 at 09:39 PM

10. I love the SIM games like this... the puzzles are challenging, the music is lovely... it gets you hooked rather fast. And it runs even when you close the game, so the next time it opens you have many surprises from your villagers. I would recommend this game to anyone, and I hope Reflexive gets more games like it.

11. Similar to Fish Tycoon, it takes time for the village to develop. But it is fun to see the village becoming more advanced, and as they advanced, the village really blossomed into something more beautiful.

12. I like the game it's really fun only problem is the Real time thing...it takes so long for them to do stuff that after a while I lose interest because I wanna keep going and there's nothing to do till all those Tech points come in ^_^;

DatePosted by Seiena on August 06, 2006 at 02:31 PM

13. I think this is one of the greatest sim games out there today. The only downfall that I see in regards to the game is the huge gap between tech points needed for certain levels. For instance you pay 2500 tech points to obtain level 2 of Construction but in order to get to level 3 you need 80,000 tech points. A little steep in my opinion but like I said this is a great game otherwise.

14. A very interesting game. I've played first time a real time game. This is so amazing that I can't turn off my computer even at night!

DatePosted by juliasun on August 07, 2006 at 04:49 AM

15. I love this game... Its really time consuming..I love the fact the game continues when i am done for the night. Although the speed that the little villagers learn is somewhat irriataing.. overall its a great game.

16. I loved this game, it's absolutely challenging! Great puzzles, sound, and overall a great idea.I wish they'd make more of these games! It's a definate must have! And by the way, please don't tell anyone that I was the one that told you about the fact that the game is affected by you changing the time on your computer! Shhht!

DatePosted by charlotte22 on August 08, 2006 at 12:34 PM

17. Totally cool. Its a game of survival. You don't work you don't eat. You don't eat you die! I finially completed the game today. After I quit acting like a man and read the directions<!> It was really quite easy but quite challenging. I had to start over three times but once I figured it all out, It was addictive! If you don't have time to set and play games all day, you can pause your game and turn it back on when your ready for it. The peaple can all be named the names of your choice. When I had the 90th villanger born it was crazy trying to keep up with them all!I had 6 sets of twins and 2 sets of triplets! Well worth the money!

DatePosted by grannyt on August 09, 2006 at 03:47 PM

18. This game is great...The fact the game keeps playing even when your not can be funny...I had 6 small children when I came back to check on my "villagers" after maybe 3 hours time. If you like the SIM like games you have to have this game..graphics are not the best but, its still fun..

DatePosted by ltryon on August 09, 2006 at 05:26 PM

19. i downloaded the trial, and didn't even make it thru that. the game just takes too long.

DatePosted by canezjem on August 12, 2006 at 12:24 PM

20. I thought this was a fun game and challenging at first trying to find all the "Mysteries" but a let down at the end. If it had another level after the "16 mysteries" were discovered it would have made it more interesting. There really is no replay value once you get all the "Mysteries"

DatePosted by kenkire on August 12, 2006 at 04:57 PM

21. I love this game, but I think a longer demo time would be better.60 minutes is not enough to really check out this game, since it is a real time game.Thank you,and have a nice day

DatePosted by josmom on August 12, 2006 at 04:59 PM

22. In this game, you help a group of refugees from a previously destroyed island begin building a new home. The game runs itself in some cases, but in others particularly when you are first starting, you need to give lots and lots of care to your village, or you might wake up with an island of skeletons the next day. This game runs even when you are not playing it, so if you are just starting off, you should hit pause, and quit the game. After you research level 3 farming however, you are (mostly) unstopable. This game can be frustrating, particularly if you get a lot of bad random events. For example, I've had to restart my file about three times now because I had a 'typhoon' which completely destroyed my food reserve. Another one, I had two bad events of losing tech points and I couldn't even get level 2 farming before the berry bush was fully harvested. and the final one, was all of my villagers becoming ill, and dying. Overall though, this game takes a long time to play, but if you love nurturing and caring for a settlement, with no real time constraints, this game is for you. If you're a hardcore shoot em up fan who wants lots of action however? This game is not for you.

DatePosted by Pondu on August 14, 2006 at 10:10 PM

25. I find it interesting that you can turn off the game and computer and the game still plays, but it does not make up for loss of graphics and the reason to play it. I think this game is just plain boring...although I am happy others find it fun. :)

DatePosted by syrinajasmine on August 15, 2006 at 04:08 PM

26. This game really got my head racing the problem is that you only got one hour to play the game. This game is awsome. please make virtual villagers 2 but make it so you buy it on a disk!

DatePosted by deathangel on August 16, 2006 at 03:08 AM

27. Another great game from bigfish games. It is very fun and like most bigfish games runs while your not actually playing (even when ur computers off). I really enjoyed fish tycoon (which is also made by them) and i think that they should create games more often. If you like sim games you should try this. The graphics aren't that good but gameplay is decent. I know other people want this from me trying to get it cheaper but this is the cheapest place you can get it.

DatePosted by Pedrico on August 19, 2006 at 04:30 AM

28. If you are a fan of The Sims, and the television show "Lost" then this is the game for you. In the hour that I played it, I fell in love with it! It is definitely a game that would be worth the price of the full version! You control tiny villagers as they try to start life over on a deserted island. It's up to you to teach them to forage for food, build shelter, and study new technologies. Instead of directly controlling them, you drag and drop them to the areas that you want thewm to "work" and they begin to try to live on their own.The coolest part about the game is that they continue to "live" even when your computer is off! If you train your villagers correctly, you could come back to a nourished and flourishing utopia!Definitely try this one! You won't regret it, and it's definitely a change of pace from the umpteen million "match 3 shapes" games that are out there!

31. I absolutely loved this game. I only played the trial but got quite far. I can't wait to get the full version! I think everybody should try this game...I hope to see more like it soon.

DatePosted by katastrafee on August 25, 2006 at 08:05 PM

32. I wish I could ask the creators some questions, like who was living in the cave, where did they go, why can't my villagers look for ways to get to the other side of the island, if the person that was in the cave got out somehow, why can't mine do so also by searching the cave for hidden passages, and why can't I get them to build more houses to increase the population after having triplets making it 92?

33. I really enjoyed the game. It has a relaxing mellow pace. I also like being able to play god and manage everyone's lives. It was a very fun game. The graphics are cute. Its not for those you want to blast everything to oblivion. Its for folks who enjoy a nice mellow game at their own pace. Its a very easy game to learn how to play. I hope to see more games like this.

38. Virtual Villagers is a great game. You are taking care of a little village with little people in it. You teach them new things and make them work. With out you they would die. This game is so addicting. I dont know if its the cute grahpics or the fact that im controlling these little people. Maby both.

DatePosted by monkeyeatbutt on September 07, 2006 at 01:51 PM

39. In fact, at first i loved it.but as time passing I don't like it anymore. The game is too slow. and u don't know what to do somewhere. I did it times and times but I couldn't completely.the most annoying part of the game is the slowness of it.

DatePosted by amintnt on September 08, 2006 at 06:13 PM

40. I own this game and i like it but I feel it needs more randoms and easier ways to get more tech points. Maybe they can make a patch for the game for more stuff to happen? They also leave the game hanging when you have done it all. Game doesn't show what more can be done once you finished all the puzzles and have the Golden child. It gets boring once you finish it which i did but i would give the game a 6 in reviews. Game land is not different everytime you play just different people to help out.Not bad but not great.

41. Its very good game.Im big fan of sims so i love it.

DatePosted by archy on September 13, 2006 at 04:01 PM

42. While this Game is a little slow to start with you are very slowly drawn into the lives of these virtual villagers as they forage for berries and learn the other trades that are needed to advance thier civilsation. If you are a fan of other Sim related games you will find this game both new and familiar all at the same time, there are puzzles to clear and achievments to make, at anytime you can also refresh your scores and compare them to others on the internet and see where your ranking s are.overall i found this game both stimulating and fun . Highly recommended to all age groups.

43. I loved this game it reminds me of sims but I learned the hard way to always pause before exiting the game. I came back to several dead bodies but it ended up okay. I Can't wait for the sequel.

44. Ah, a game of leadership. Some islanders are stranded on a deserted island called Isola. Your goal is to help them survive, flourish and grow while solving the 16 puzzles of Isola and researching for the future. This game is great to play, but if you are not skipping you clock forward and actually wait the time for everyone to grow and get food, it gets really boring. It is also annoying how you have to get farming advanced first or else it is complete death. The game is great to get stuck into in your spare time. Your villagers will make you laugh and cry, build and grow, breed and take care of each other. It is truly a great game.Once you finish the game and play again, the thrill is gone as you know exactly what to do. It is a one off type of game.

DatePosted by ZachCharge on September 16, 2006 at 02:13 AM

45. I love this game. It never has to end, you can keep breeding the little villagers and try to get all #1 on all the stats if you want or you can stop at the "END". I just wish the site had more tycoon games, I am a tycoon fanatic.

DatePosted by shelllynn22 on September 18, 2006 at 12:33 AM

46. This game is absolutely spectacular. You start out with a few people and if you are a good "god" to the villagers, they will stay alive and continue doing jobs, breeding, farming and uncovering new secrets, otherwise they could end up dead. The graphics really are spectacular except sometimes when the people are very ugly and the details on the detail screen in the picture are pixelatd badly. Otherwise this is a good game.

47. wow i love this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!its the greatest game of all time and i wish it would never end!!!!!!!!!!!!! but sadly it does........it features great gameplay and i love it!!!!!ok now to the review.... i like the great graphics, nice sounds, and the intuitive characters. The game basicly plays itself even when the computer is off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that imediatly captured my heart. although after killng 7 or 8 tribes i finally got the hang of it. If it weree a girl id (censored).yeah, about that............ummmmmm wooooooooooooo i love virtual villagers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

48. Virtual VillagersIs A Very Cool Game Making People Survive On A Island Great Fun

DatePosted by thad999999 on September 20, 2006 at 09:12 AM

49. I started playing the game myself about two weeks ago then I got the full version. I beat all the puzzles within a few days then it just got really boring. There's no replayability factor to this game at all! (And I think you people who run Reflexive should have a star rating for "Replayability", too. *wink*)Graphics are alright, nothing really special. In fact, the villagers are owls. Their heads can spin, quite literally, and this can go on for quite a while. Oh! Touch the water, though and try to "drag" with it!I love the music and the voices are fitting. Other sound effects like the hand tapping the water (ocean and otherwise) are also a nice touch.Gameplay wise, I think I've said what I had to. Not a replayable game, like the previous Last Day of Work game Fish Tycoon. It's a short game, though it's really meant to be played over a course of many days. Also, you have to improve your food technology first or else all of your villagers die of starvation. Not a fun death. So, get the game and beat it before you have to pay for it. Unless you really like it, don't buy it. It's too short to be fun.

50. This game is addictive, I see other reviews that say after the mysteries are solved that is the end, but in truth it isn't. I have kept it going for ages now and there is always something happening... It may take a little longer to happen and some people just don't have the patience i guess... I would recommend this game to anyone and have. They are all addicted as well...

DatePosted by ami01 on September 23, 2006 at 08:16 PM

51. When I first looked at this game, I wasn't interested, but decided to download it anyway just to see what it was all about. After I downloaded it, I couldn't quit playing it. All my people died the first time I attempted it, but I am now well into the game and haven't lost one villager yet. The overall graphics could be better, but I would recommend this game to anyone. You get so involved in their little lives, that it's hard not to love it. I give it an A++++.Shel

52. This game is addictive! I solved all the puzzles with my first tribe and I'm gonna try to do it faster with another tribe.

DatePosted by jayvegathe1st on September 26, 2006 at 01:00 AM

53. The concept is great and the graphics are just fine but then the overall scheme wasn't as thought out as it should have been, what was the user supposed to do after solving all 16 puzzles? Why is there are cave and open areas on the map? Why don't villagers do what you command when you check off a duty for them to do, and why is there laundry? I think this game has the potential to be one of the all time great sims but lacks because they released it without many user inputs, they should've designed it, had it beta tested and listen to user inputs. Therefore my score reflects this.

DatePosted by wingedfox on October 01, 2006 at 08:45 AM

54. I loved this game at first, though it's a bit slow, you can walk away and the game progresses without you. Once you've completed all the puzzles the first time though, it's not as fun to play over again.

DatePosted by Emskii on October 01, 2006 at 09:34 AM

55. The quality isnt too bad, but the special about this game is the real time gameplay. Seems that we should take care of our people. and check the game regulary to make sure something bad is not happening. long game and worth to buy... enjoy!

DatePosted by albalb on October 06, 2006 at 12:14 PM

56. THIS IS A FABULOUS GAMES. IT TAKES A WHILE TO PRODUCE VILLAGERS. IF YOU ARE NOT ON TOP OF IT YOUR VILLAGERS CAN DIE FROM DISESE. I CANT STOP PLAYING IT. IT TAKES A WHILE TO BUILD UP THE TECH POINTS, BUT IT IS STILL FUN. I WISH THERE WERE MORE GAMES LIKE THIS ONE.

DatePosted by poofy57 on October 06, 2006 at 09:15 PM

57. It's a good game with good concepts. I personally like games that are a little faster. If you liked fish tycoon then you'll like this game. I would have liked it more if you could speed the time up more, and if it didn't take so long to teach the villagers to farm/forage.

60. Virtual Villagers is a very fun game.It has its ups and downs but its still fun.The game has a great start explaining to us what happens. At first you struggle to get food and points but as you go further into the game,it becomes oh so fun.The graphics are in 2-D form and the sounds are a bit realistic. They could work on the sounds so it would make the game more intersting. But after you finish the game, you don't want to start over because it gets boring.Overall Virtual Villagers is a great game but could use a bit more improvements such as more tasks and a bigger island.

63. If you like RTS games, then Virtual Villagers is for you. Learning the game can take a while, but when you master everything, this game will make you jump for joy. The best part is that even if you quit the game, or shut down your computer, the Villagers continue their everyday lives. A very enjoyable game that everyone should play. *****

64. The game is about a bunch of people getting stranded on an island and making it their new home. In order to survive they must learn skills such as farming, research, building, etc. This is one of the few games I've actually become addicted to. Even though the graphics are not that great, the point of the game is what got me addicted.I always found it exciting to go to bed and then get up the next morning to see what my little villagers had done while I was fast asleep.I think this is a great game for anyone who likes to play the Sims games. And for people who have the patience to put up with real time games and not fast paced ones.

67. This game all about survival and there are plenty of ways to cheat throughout the game if you are smart enough. I fell in love with this game ever since I started playing so why hesistate? Download and try it out yourself :)
